Appalachian/Carpathian International Conference

Organized by Transilvania University of Brașov, the Faculty of Letters in partnership with Radford University, Virginia, USA, between 7-11 October 2019, the Appalachian/Carpathian International Conference “Making Place: Transitional and Post-Industrial Development in Mountain Communities” will bring together 55+ academics and researchers from 20 American universities and 5 European universities. The conference will approach interdisciplinary topics related to the development of mountain communities in post-industrial areas, critical depictions of mountain cultures in literature and art, the ethnological heritage, sustainable agriculture and forest engineering, ecological tourism, economic diversity, common topics concerning the communities in the Appalachians and the Carpathians.
The conference will take place at Aula Magna on 7 and 8 October, between 10:00-18:00.
