BIBLIO brings together papers submitted within the homonymous Conference on Library and Information Science, organized by Transilvania University of Braşov, during 2002-2007 and 2009-2012. Since 2009, this professional event has been organized in partnership with the Romanian Librarians’ Association (ABR), Romanian Academy, Francophone International Association of the Librarians and Documentalists (AIFBD) and “George Bariţiu” County Library of Braşov. In time, the status of this manifestation has changed from communication session (2002) to a national conference with international participation (2003- 2007), subsequently becoming an international conference (2009-2012).
The papers submitted within BIBLIO Conference were reviewed by a commission consisting of teaching staff within Transilvania University of Braşov and of experts in library and information science, and were gathered in 10 volumes of proceedings published by Transilvania University of Braşov Press.
Each volume opens with a foreword signed by the Rector of Transilvania University of Braşov or by the Library Director, followed by the table of contents in Romanian and English. On the page preceding the table of contents, since 2007, the members of the editorial committee and the members of the reviewing committee for the published papers have been mentioned, as well as the members of the BIBLIO scientific committee from the issuance year of the volume. The papers are published in Romanian and translated into English for the Romanian authors; and for the foreign participants, the papers are published in English. With a view to being indexed in international databases, since 2010, the text has been fully written in English.
The topics approached in these volumes capture both strictly professional aspects and issues at the confluence between library science and fields such as history, literature, linguistics, law, psychology, informatics, technique, economics. Subjects such as new research and innovation directions in the field of library science, role and status of the library and librarian within informational society, management and marketing of the libraryand informational resources, development and optimization of the library services as well as their orientation towards the users, digital libraries, virtual libraries, implementation of cutting-edge information technologies inlibrary activities, information literacy, professional training of the expertsin information, library legislation, partnerships between libraries, library history, they all raise great interest in the ones activating in the professions within information, and more.
The authors of the studies published in the BIBLIO volumes are librarians, documentalists, information experts, as well as teachingstaff within libraries and universities, or other prestigious institutions in Romania orin countries such as USA, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Scotland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Moldova.
BIBLIO is a relevant information (re)source for the ones interested in library and information science; the quality of the studies published therein being certified by its being indexed in EBSCO database (Library Literature & Information Science Index - H.W. Wilson)[1], entering at the same time in the circuit of the documents destined for national and international exchange of publications achieved by the Library of Transilvania University of Braşov.
