Between 1 August and 30 September 2023, the Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University of Brașov hosts a vast exhibition by Dumitru Șchiopu, the visual artist originating in Brașov.
Dumitru Șchiopu is a mature artist, stylistically meaningful, but discreet. His work spans the last 50 years and expresses itself in various genres and mediums: graphics, photography, digital art, painting, all of them crossed by what we have called the geometry of gesture, a concern for the abstract and formal purity of engagement in serialized yet meaningful, repetitive yet vitalist existence.

Then, Dumitru Șchiopu’s art was in a direct relationship with the currents of creativity that marked these decades, primarily in the visual arts, but also in film and literature. The abstractionism that defines Dumitru Șchiopu as a creative dominant maintains subtle relations with the great modernists, but also with the art of some virtuosos from Brașov, or with the experiments of the prose writer Gheorghe Crăciun.

We invite you to the opening, which will take place on 4 august, starting at 7.00 p.m.
The exhibition can be visited every day from Monday to Friday, between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The entrance is free.

Dumitru Șchiopu’s exhibition at the Multicultural Center is a cultural project whose main financier is the City Hall of Brașov.
