UNITBV, the third Romanian university in the Best Global Universities Rankings
Best Global Universities Rankings, made by US News & World Report, has listed 1678 universities, out of which Transilvania University of Brașov ranks 328th in Europe, and 792th globally. Only two universities in Romania occupy higher positions than UNITBV, i.e. West University of Timisoara, ranking 241st in Europe and 557th worldwide, and Babes Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca, holding 259th position in Europe and 595th globally. Other Romanian universities ranked on top positions are the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (330th in Europe and 801st globally), University of Bucharest (330th in Europe and 959th worldwide) and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest (403rd in Europe and 1022nd globally).
The first places in the global ranking are occupied by Harvard, MIT, Stanford University and the University of California - Berkeley, all in the United States, followed by Oxford in the United Kingdom. At European level, the top is dominated by Great Britain, the best universities being Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, University of Edinburgh, King's College London, University of Copenhagen, University of Amsterdam and the Sorbonne University.
The performance indicators of Best Global Universities Rankings are: global research reputation (12.5%), regional research reputation (12.5%), number of publications (10%), number of books (2.5%), number of conferences (2.5%), nominalized citation impact ( 10%), total number of citations (7.5%), number of publications among the 10% most cited (12.5%), publications among the 10% most cited (10%), international collaboration relative to country (5%), publications with international collaboration of the institution (5%), number of highly cited papers among the top 1% most cited in their field (5%), percentage of total publications among the top 1% most highly cited papers (5%).
