Cosmin Frunteș – Landscape Left | Opening
18 July - 28 August, Multicultural Centre
Cosmin Frunteș is one of the most impressive contemporary Romanian painters, with an already significant body of work, who is known rather beyond Brașov and our country, both through his personal exhibitions and through the ones achieved together with NOIMA group that he is a part of, in European galleries (but not only). His art is a new figurative approach to the landscape, nature and environment marked by human intervention, changed and forsaken, yet without being tragically destroyed, presented as in a moment of ambiguous pause before regeneration. We have called this perspective “Landscape Left” in order to highlight man's social and economic impact on nature, but also the inexhaustible vitality of nature.
The project is the second episode in the materialization of the wider concept of presenting to the public, of documenting and of archiving the contemporary art of Brașov, through the curatorially and editorially cohesive and demanding selection of the most original and relevant visual artists and the most interesting parts or dimensions of their creation.
The painter Cosmin Frunteș thus continues the series opened by the project developed and completed last year, which was dedicated to the painter and graphic artist Dumitru Șchiopu.
The exhibition is open to the public until 28 August, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The main financier of the project is the City Hall of Brașov Municipality.
