Project idea contest on the creation of a “disability-friendly” campus

UNITBV launches a project idea contest for students, themed on creating a “disability friendly” campus, within the project CNFIS-FDI-2024-F-0397 – “From access to success. Creating an accessible and inclusive academic environment for the students with disabilities”, which is aimed at creating the institutional and educational setting for a high-quality inclusive and equitable education for the students with disabilities within Transilvania University of Brașov (both current and prospective students).
This contest aims at challenging students to identify creative, original and feasible solutions in order to foster an educational environment that facilitates the access to education for all students, regardless of their learning needs.
The project idea only involves the development of a project proposal, not also its implementation.
General objectives pursued through the project ideas:
- enhanced participation of the students with disabilities in the educational process offered by the university;
- greater educational and social inclusion for the students with disabilities;
- support for the students with disabilities, with a view to reducing academic dropout;
- development of the relevant skills in the teaching personnel and experts involved in conducting activities with disabled students;
- higher community awareness on the importance of the educational and social inclusion of the people with disabilities
Participants:
The proposals will be made by student teams of up to 5 participants. Interdisciplinary teams and teams including at least one disabled student are encouraged, as diverse perspectives and experiences can guide amendments towards increased physical and educational accessibility, easier communication, as well as better support services.
The students at Transilvania University of Brașov in all bachelor’s and master’s study programmes, and all forms of education can register for this contest.
Only one project idea will be awarded, and the prize consists of a tablet computer for each participant in the winning team.
Calendar of the contest:
01.11.2024 – launch of the contest;
01.11.2024 – 30.11.2024 – submittal of the project ideas to the address danielanecsoi@unitbv.ro;
01.12.2024 – 03.12.2024 – evaluation of the project ideas by the expert committee (based on the evaluation sheet);
03.12.2024 – announcement of the winning project idea and awarding of the participants;
Evaluation of the project ideas:
The project ideas will be evaluated by an expert committee made up of academic teaching personnel from the Faculties of Psychology and Education Sciences, respectively, Sociology and Communication, as well as of specialists from the Career Counselling and Guidance Centre (CCOC) within UNITBV.
The evaluation criteria focus on:
- relevance of the project idea;
- quality of the project idea (clear-cut objectives; suitable activities to the proposed objectives; well-justified budget, etc.);
- anticipated impact of the project implementation.
