Beyond the Screen. Exploring Disability through Film and Academic Dialogue

The Studio 181 Hall, in the Rectorate building of Transilvania University of Brașov (29 Eroilor Blvd.) will host, on 3 December 2024, starting at 4:00 p.m., the event “Beyond the Screen. Exploring Disability through Film and Academic Dialogue”, organised to celebrate the International Day of People with Disabilities.
3 December was proclaimed the International Day of People with Disabilities by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1992, through the resolution 47/3, in order to mark the end of the United Nations Decade of Disabled Persons (1983-1992).
The event “Beyond the Screen. Exploring Disability through Film and Academic Dialogue” aims at bringing up for debate the challenges and difficulties faced by people with disabilities in school and society, in order to foster an inclusive attitude in the academic environment and society. The screening of an award-winning feature film will be the opportunity to discuss the challenges, benefits and importance of the disabled people's educational and social inclusion.
The event is addressed to the students both with and without disabilities, to the teaching and administrative personnel, graduates, collaborators of UNITBV, as well as to all community members interested in this topic. The entrance is free within the limits of available seats.

The activity is organised within the project CNFIS-FDI-2024-F-0397 – “From access to success. Creating an accessible and inclusive academic environment for the students with disabilities”, which is aimed at creating the institutional and educational setting for a high-quality inclusive and equitable education for the students with disabilities within Transilvania University of Brașov.
