Games of Science 2026

When researchers speak out, disinformation loses ground!
26 - 27 February 2026, Institute of Research and Development, Transilvania University of Brașov,  L5 room

The fifth edition of Games of Science is on the way, now with even shorter speeches!

For the first time, the maximum duration of the presentations prepared by the participants dropped from three to two minutes, in order to fully capture the audience’s attention span, according to the international studies.

The time ranges for which the participants train themselves to speak about their research activity are: 15 seconds, 30 seconds, one minute and two minutes.

The calendar includes eight local stages and the national finals. Games of Science will reach the city of Brașov on 26 and 27 February, and will be hosted by the Institute of Research and Development within Transilvania University.

The other stages will take place as follows:
19.02 – 20.02 Iași, in partnership with “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași;
23.02 – 24.02 Suceava, in partnership with “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava;
05.03 – 06.03 Timișoara, in partnership with the West University of Timișoara;
19.03 – 20.03 Constanța, in partnership with “Ovidius” University of Constanța;
26.03 – 27.03 Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca;
02.04 – 03.04 Bucharest, in partnership with the University of Bucharest;
04.04 – 05.04 Online, in partnership with “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu;
National Finals: 16.05 – 17.05 2026 in Bucharest.

For this edition, the team organising the stage in the city of Brașov includes Ada Roseti, chairwoman of SciPublicForum Association and originator of Games of Science; Costin Enache, ecologist and local team leader; Raluca Neagu, psychotherapist; Magda Ienci, astronomer; and Andrei Koman, a student of Transilvania University and finalist in the 2025 edition of Games of Science.

Games of Science is a national programme through which the young researchers learn to popularise their research in short formats, for various audiences, in a way that fosters interest and invites to dialogue.

Why participate in Games of Science?

Games of Science is more than mere training or a simple competition. It is a community for young researchers that offers its members:
- practical training in order for them to talk about their research in public, within 15 - 120 second formats;
- peer learning, feedback and support in order for them to continue the public communication after the competition as well;
- a competitive “tournament” setting that boosts the pressure and dynamics of real-life communication situations and tests the things learned during the training.

The previous editions counted up over 35 training sessions, 700 registrations from all over the country, and 200 alumni who are active in a community that continuously discusses science and research with the most diverse audiences.

Who can register for Games of Science?

Games of Science is open to the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, as well as to the researchers in all fields, with the recommended age between 20 and 35 years, eager to get involved in promoting science to the general public. No previous experience is required, as the programme is designed precisely as a space for learning and practicing.

You can sign up by filling out the form on www.gamesofscience.ro or on www.tinyurl.com/GoS2026.

About Games of Science

Games of Science is a national programme of science communication, produced by SciPublicForum Association, which helps the researchers bring their activity and achievements closer to the public. The format combines a day of intensive training with the actual competition of short presentations (15 - 120 seconds) in front of the audience.

About SciPublicForum

SciPublicForum is an NGO dedicated to science communication and dialogue between researchers and society. The association prepares the scientists to speak clearly, honestly and responsibly about their activity and achievements, and it co-creates educational and science-promotion programmes with universities, institutes and civic partners throughout the country.
