Informatics, your step to the world of Mechatronics – InfoTRON 2026
26 January - 11 May 2026
Within the programme “Strategic Partnership for Education 5.0”, four high-education institutions of Brașov, namely“Grigore Moisil” National College, “Dr. Ioan Meșotă” National College, “Unirea” National College and “Andrei Mureșanu” National College, together with Brașov County School Inspectorate, Transilvania University of Brașov (through its Faculties of Product Design and Environment, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as Mathematics and Computer Science) and with Miele Brașov and, respectively, Siemens Industry Software companies, launch the fifth edition of InfoTRON,the successful extracurricular educational project.
InfoTRON is an educational project initiated in 2018, which promotes mechatronics (mechanics, electronics and computer science) among the 5th-12th graders of Brașov, through practical activities, mentorship and competitions between colleges and high schools. The project offers a modern educational framework, connected to the current technological and industrial realities, where the pupils can learn, experiment and build mechatronic systems, while developing essential skills for the future, such as teamwork, creativity and innovation. In the first four editions, over 1,200 pupils participated in the InfoTRON activities.
The main project objective is to develop, until 2030, through experiential learning, the skills needed for the professions of the future, in line with the demands of the industry, thus helping train a generation apt and ready to integrate into the academic and economic environments, as well as diminish school dropout, and boost interest in the STEM fields and technical careers.
The educational process is structured into stages and adapted to the participants’ age levels. The pupils benefit from practical training sessions in fields such as introduction to the mechatronic systems, programming on Arduino and ESP32 platforms, robot mechanics, modelling and design, and they will subsequently apply the acquired knowledge in real-life team projects, under the guidance of both academic teaching personnel and students.
The new edition, InfoTRON 2026,takes place in the period 26 January – 11 May 2026, and it includes weekly training sessions according to each age group, design and building of mechatronic systems, competitions at college and high school level, the final project evaluation and the awards ceremony on 11 May 2026, during which the best projects will be rewarded with attractive prizes offered by the partner companies.
Over 320 pupils are involved in this edition, under the guidance of 30 student trainers, but also several professors and specialists in the Development Centre of Miele Brașov and Siemens Industry Software companies. The activities are materially supported with the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime kits for the 5th-7th graders, and with the microcontroller-equipped Arduino and ESP32 advanced kits for the 9th-11th graders, according to progressive levels of difficulty. The financial support for the purchase of the kits and other materials is provided by Miele Brașov and Siemens Industry Software.
