UNITBV students on behalf of Romania at the Olympic Winter Games
Almost half of the Romanian delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics are students or alumni of Transilvania University of Brașov
Romania will be represented at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics by 22 athletes and 12 coaches. Among them, 16 are students or alumni of Transilvania University of Brașov – 8 athletes and 8 coaches. Moreover, Raluca Strămăturaru, one of the flag bearers, is also an alumna of UNITBV.
Most of the aforementioned are or were students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports; except for Daniel Cacina, Romania’s representative in ski jumping, who is a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, also at Transilvania University of Brașov.
The athletes from Brașov will compete in 5 of the 7 disciplines in which Romania has a representative: luge, alpine skiing, biathlon, ski jumping and speed skating.

The sportswoman is in her fourth participation in the Olympic Games, and her best ranking was the 7th place in the luge in 2018, at the PyeongChang Olympics.
The Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports has long been one of the breeding grounds of Romanian Olympic teams for winter sports.
The Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports of Transilvania University is the only one in the country that can train athletes in disciplines such as alpine skiing, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, skating or luge, and that can provide the necessary training conditions for winter sports.
The Beijing Winter Olympics will take place from 4 to 20 February 2022.
We are keeping our fingers crossed and wish success to all Romanian athletes!
