Transilvania University of Brașov (UNITBV), “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava (USV) and “Marin Drăcea” National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry (INCDS) will prepare the study for the project of the new Forestry Code and the model for structuring the subsequent legislation, together with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests.

In this context, today, at “Sergiu T. Chiriacescu” International Conference Centre of Transilvania University of Brașov, the project and the activity of preliminary consultation between the stakeholders were officially launched. The event was attended by the Minister of the Environment, Tanczos Barna, the Rector of Transilvania University of Brașov, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ioan Vasile Abrudan, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry within Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, Lect. Dr. Eng. Ciprian Palaghianu, the Director of “Marin Drăcea” National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry, Șerban Davidescu, and the team leader of this project, Prof. Dr. Bogdan Popa, from Transilvania University of Brașov.

The association between the three institutions (UNITBV, USV and INCDS) has the role of providing the authority with a technical project, ensuring the transparency and balance expected by the stakeholders. The project of the Forestry Code will be made available to the central authority for silviculture, which will thus benefit from a solid technical and legislative expertise base for the steps it intends to undertake. The time limit for completing the project of the new Forestry Code is early June, including the period of public consultation.
