The last concert of this year’s Chamber Jazz@Transilvania University season features trombonist Samuel Blaser (Switzerland) and guitarist Marc Ducret (France).
Acknowledged for his technical mastery and for the way he attempts to go beyond the conventional boundaries of the guitar in jazz, Marc Ducret has collaborated, since 1975, with Larry Schneider, David Friedmann, Michel Portal, Joachim Kuhn, Franco Ambrosetti, Didier Lockwood, Eric Barret, Miroslav Vitous, Enrico Rava, Adam Nussbaum, Django Bates, David Sanborn, Joey Baron, Michel Godard, Louis Sclavis and Dominique Pifarely’s Acoustic Quartet.
In 2024, trombonist and composer Samuel Blaser was designated by Jazz Magazine as “this year’s foreign trombonist”. He also won, in 2019, the award “Prix du Musicien Européen” of Académie du Jazz de Paris, France. Born in 1981, in Switzerland, he had lived in New York for several years before moving to Berlin. He has collaborated with Art Orchestra and European Radio Big Band. In 2020, he launched his own record label, Blaser Music, and his recent collaborations include Michel Portal, Daniel Humair and Marc Ducret.
