European Poetry Biennale – Seventh Edition: Solace and Solitude
7 and 8 November 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Multicultural Centre, Transilvania University of Brașov
The Faculty of Letters within Transilvania University of Brașov invites the academic community and the public of Brașov to the seventh edition of the European Poetry Biennale of Brașov. The event will take place on 7 and 8 November 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., at the Multicultural Centre of our university.
The Poetry Biennale, a European-wide festival in the avant-garde of this art, captures and proposes, at each edition, a relevant concept for the very quintessence of the most stringent contemporaneity, and thus enhances, each time, the relevance of poetry as an art of the boldness to explore, express (or invent?) reality, before its configuration in public discourse.
After the experience of femininity (2013), the intergenerational affinities (2015), the imperative of disobedience (2017), the feeling of nature or “kosmophilia” (2019), technology’s mediation on existence (2021), the imagined and imaginary community of a We/Us (2023), this year’s edition, entitled Solace and Solitude, takes an introspective turn, exploring how poetry can create forms of solace, leading us to find balance or meaning within ourselves, our community or society, and how we can make the best of this meaning in order to engage in a world marked by crises, contradictions and alienation.
The poets invited to Brașov this year are: Crina Bega (RO), Iustin Butnariuc (RO), Francisca Camelo (PT), Ruxandra Cesereanu (RO), Rita Chirian (RO), Nichita Danilov (RO), Andrew Davidson-Novosivschei (RO/US), Florin Gherman (RO), Iya Kiva (UA), Marko Pogačar (HR), Simona Sigartău (RO), Ana Tcheishvili (GE), Andreas Unterweger (AT), Alexandru Vakulovski (MD), Závada Péter (HU).
The day of readings will end with a vocal-instrumental recital offered by Avin Ahmadi (IR/AT).
